I like the information, but the audio quality is so poor – filled with echos, interruptions from the audience, laughter that drowns out the point Mr. Chow is trying to make, etc. – that I quit listening to the video and clicked off. This was very difficult to get any real value from my perspective. Sorry.

He doesn’t even know how to make a properly lit video, or sound that is intelligible (remote, wireless mike).
Totally unimpressed.

Can not clearly hear him as he is too far from a microphone, and the audience is too loud when they laugh.

Not a good video in my opinion.

Yes the audio quality is poor but the info is great and you can hear it if you listen closely. It is worth it. He is making $40,000 every month with his blog. Yes, next time he should probably hire a sound man.

Thank you Quickregister for the nice video of John Chow. Was great listening to his comments. It makes sense. So far had a simple blog but I think I will make the best use of his demonstration.

Once again thanks for all those emails that you send to me. Really informative.

I found the video extremely informative. I have been studying the subject of internet marketing for some time now and have not encountered “Just the Facts” in such a tight package. John Chow is brilliant in the simplicity of his approach and has nothing to prove to me (or anybody) by making “glitzy” made for prime time videos at his own expense so I can get free information. I think this guy rocks and I want to thank John for the info and Matthew for dropping it in my inbox. Keep up the good work.

Yes, Leonard, I agree with you. I like John Chow’s style. Straight forward and to the point. I downloaded his free ebook that you get after you join his newsletter and it had some great tips for improving blogs. I have already implemented some of them.

Audio is muddy especially with John’s strong accent. Lighting sets the wrong mood – too many shadows to be on an enlightened session. Presentation could be a little more austere and intellectually stimulating – drags out too long before making any succint point. Good information in need of a better presentation. This is a easy fix.

Sorry to say …but this video/audio is horrible. Can’t make out a word he says total waste of time to have put this video online…way too many breaks in the audio, he is too far away from a mic, the audience drowns out any “value” he might give in this presentation.

I don’t think this video was intended to be put online…

Too bad, it could have been a great message to learn from him!

Next time, please don’t tease us like this!

Thanks for putting this superb presentation on your blog. I am coming back later for a second listen!

What is also amazing is the negativity in this comment thread. There’s pure gold in the talk!

Good point Alex. I was surprised too but I only delete negative comments if they have no point. I prefer an honest exchange of ideas. I knew an old time sales manager who was very successful who told his sales people send me your most disgruntled customers. He would learn the most from them and take great pride in turning them around. It may sting a bit but real constructive criticism is how we get better.

Difficult to hear; turnned up my treble full and this improved it;

Far too much waffle; email spamming, (ok; so opt-in so you say it’s not spam), is the answer, ( A-Webber)?

I understand your point but I guarantee you that if you get his ebook and read it your can improve your blog. It is quite good. Actually I think I have learned by this post that it is probably better to read John Chow than to listen to him. He goes into much greater detail in his ebook and really cuts to the chase. Thank you for your comment. Matt.

It seems to be interesting regardless of the recording quality. I’m new to this field. So, I cannot judge, but I can learn and put into practice. I appreciate your sharing it with us.

If this guy actually makes $40K a month it can’t be doing this. I have five (5) little girls including twin 6 year olds and they produce a more Quality skit on the cell phone camera, lol!

LOL you might be right Rebecca. I am sure your little girls are more entertaining! I think we can all agree that the sound quality is poor and John really is not that charismatic but here is what I suggest. Join his newsletter and download his book on blogging. It is free and really no BS meaty stuff. You do not have to listen to John Chow just read him. I have started applying the techniques and I have only read part of it. Even the plugin which allows me to reply to specific comments like I am doing now I learned from him. He could sell that ebook for real money because it is better than most that I have paid for. And yes John Chow should get the message, at least from this blog, that he should improve the quality of sound on his recording if he wants to communicate his message better. Thanks for all your comments good and bad! Matthew Meyer.

I watched the entire video and got a lot of great information out of it. Thank you Mr. Chow.

As some of the other people commenting have said, the audio and video quality were sub par, but the content was above par.

The mistakes made while producing this video are very common and easy to fix. I have been making videos forever and my blog is on the topic of making videos, Video Production Tips.com It does not make 40 grand a month though, sadly. I’m getting there!

I made today’s post about easy ways to fix the problems encountered when making this video. Audio problems happen all the time and they are not hard to fix if you know how.

I hope my information helps you as I know your information will help me!

You are more than welcome. As I watched the video, it certainly was a no-brainer post opportunity for me.

Such a great video with the message hampered by poor technical quality. They could have all been overcome during the videotaping process, which is what I talk about in my post.

John actually did a great job of presenting, this just highlights the difference between the impact that a speech has in person vs. the impact it has on video.

At this point, perhaps the best thing to do is have it transcribed so people can read along.

Thanks
Lorraine

Not sure what others have said, but I found it VERY difficult to hear what this fellow was saying. Audio is very poor. Can only hear bits and pieces of it, but not enough to really GET what he’s talking about.

Perhaps it could somehow be tweaked in some way, to make it clearer.

Thanks

Well I though it was very informative, yes the quality of the sound wasn’t great BUT the content was superb especially those new or thinking about a blog/blogging.

(Too many whiners about the quality of the sound, if that’s what holds you back from learning anything; go back to sleep and find fault.)

It definitely gets the thumbs up from me. I mean I think the guy’s more than qualified $40,000 from a blog…a month for Pete’s Sake!
