I just set up a new free classified ads site on the domain thefreeadforum.com. I started The Free Ad Forum years ago as a place where people could place their free ads. The concept worked. People have posted thousands of free ads on The Free Ad Forum. The only problem is that it really became just a spam board. Kudos however, to several clever marketers who still managed to get lots of hits to their sites using this forum. However, I kind of hit a wall with the site. A forum which allows everyone to advertise like crazy does not generate too much in the way of discussion. And discussion is really the true nature of a forum. A free advertising forum can only grow so much as people post ads and only a few people actually take the time to read them.
So what to do? I decided to set up a proper classifieds ads software on the domain then turn the forum into a true moderated forum. This way those who want to post ads can post real classified ads in appropriate categories. And those who wish to discuss internet marketing and meet other marketers can do so in the forum. Both the forum concept and the classified ads concept work. Just take a look at the Digital Point and The Warrior internet marketing forum and Craigslist and Backpage.com.
Though Thefreeadforum.com is not yet in the same league as these properties at least it is moving in the right direction. In any case I just launched the classified ads site and hundreds of people are posting ads. I would like to invite you to post your free ads as well and let me know what you think. Especially if you see ways I can improve the forum and the classified ads area. I am going for long term growth here not a quick buck. Hi Ann, thanks for your opinion. It is evolving fast. Over 1000 ads in two days. I am in the process of setting up a manual classified submissions service now. Only top sites and individual submissions. We will see. Thanks!

I totally agree about the constant learning process, I feel it’s almost a case of the more you learn the more you understand there is so much more out there, that said sticking to what works is vital otherwise we never achieve any real results

Thank you Tony for your comment. Yes, I am working very hard on the free ads site. I just set up some Yahoo campaigns for most of the individual categories. Do you want to post the first “Exotic Pets Classified Ads?” Just kidding. But I did start a ppc campaign for that category. Yes, I wish I could execute as fast as I am learning.
