My last post listed over 100 local directories where you can list your local business. Local directories such as Google Places and Yelp are becoming more and more important in ranking your website in the search engines. The problem with listing your business with all these local directories is that it is very time consuming submitting and completing each form for each directory. Plus, once you submit your listings it can takes weeks or even months for your listing to be approved.
Here is a list of important local directories where you can get approved within 2 weeks or less. They also happen to be some of the more important local directories. Often, being listed in these directories first can help speed up the process for being listed in all the other local directories. Here is the list. Why not? Yelp for me is definitely a local directory. Why do you not consider it a local directory?

Too bad most of these are America only. We need more international directories like these!
Most of these sites use a ‘nofollow’ in the URL for your listing, so they won’t give you a boost in your page rank.
I do not worry that much about follow or no follow. These directories get listed very well in Google and have their own search traffic as well so it is good to be listed there.
This website was really helpful as a starting point to get recognized on the net!
